Childhood Adversity as a Contributor to Disparities in Cardiovascular Disease

At the CSDE seminar on April 9th, Dr. Shakira Suglia will present “Childhood Adversity as a Contributor to Disparities in Cardiovascular Disease”. CSDE Affiliate and Seminar Series Chair Maria Bleil will moderate the discussion. Dr. Suglia will discuss potential mechanisms linking childhood adversity and cardiometabolic health as well as factors which may modify or exacerbate this association. Dr. Suglia is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University. Her research examines the impact of social determinants, focusing on childhood exposures to violence, housing and neighborhood factors on health across the lifecourse.
